The city of Barcelos is located in the District of Braga, in the north of Portugal. Originally a Roman settlement, the city was established in 1140. For centuries it has been part of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela.

We stayed at the Top‘Otel in the city of Barcelinhos (the diminutive of Barcelos). Crossing the Cávado River, one arrives in the famous city of Barcelos.

The Medieval or New Door Tower
This medieval tower was originally part of the wall constructed around the city between the years 1401
